As an ASG Coach, I am actively seeking nominations of outstanding athletes to compete in the 2025 All State Game. Your nomination gives them the opportunity to showcase their skills, compete alongside the state’s best, and earn elite-level recognition. Honor their dedication by nominating them today and open the door to an unforgettable experience.
The All State Game proudly welcomes Coach Robert J. Sica, a highly accomplished football coach from Staten Island, New York, to its 2025 coaching staff. With an extensive background as both a player and coach, Sica has made an indelible mark on high school football, developing championship-caliber teams and mentoring young athletes into elite competitors. His presence at the All State Game will offer players an invaluable opportunity to refine their skills, embrace discipline, and build lasting success both on and off the field.
Coach Sica’s football journey began at the age of seven, and from an early age, he established himself as a leader. Named team captain at every level, he quickly earned accolades, including Defensive MVP in the All-Star Game as an eighth grader. His high school career was marked by consecutive CHSFL AAA Championship appearances, and he was recognized as CHSFL Player of the Week, Defensive Player of the Year Runner-Up, and earned All-League, SI Advance All-Star, Daily News All-Star, and Newsday All-Star honors. Additionally, he was selected as a 2nd Team All-State player and played in the Outback Challenge, sponsored by the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
His exceptional talent earned him a full scholarship to CW Post College, where he contributed to a conference titlebefore transitioning into a career that would lead him back to his passion—coaching.
After completing his playing career, Coach Sica turned his focus toward coaching, where he has since transformed programs and developed winning teams. He began coaching in 2006 at Monsignor Farrell, his alma mater, as the JV Linebackers Coach. His coaching career advanced when he joined St. Peter’s in 2011, following his mentor, Mark DeCristoforo. By 2013, he had earned his first Defensive Coordinator position, leading St. Peter’s to four #1 defenses in the league from 2013-2017 and transforming the program from a single-A competitor into a dominant AAA threat.
After stepping away briefly to focus on his family, Sica returned to Farrell before rejoining St. Peter’s. When tragedy struck Coach DeCristoforo’s home life, Sica was promoted to Interim Head Coach, eventually becoming Co-Head Coach alongside his mentor. Under their leadership, St. Peter’s made history in their first AA title game appearance in 20 years, posting an impressive 10-3 record while leading the league in scoring and setting multiple school records. His exceptional leadership earned him both the Mario Valentini CHSFL Coach of the Year Award and the NYSHSFCA Coach of the Year Award.
Coach Sica’s dedication to developing athletes extends beyond strategy and game plans. His philosophy emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and perseverance, ensuring that young athletes understand the importance of growth both on and off the field. His leadership at the 2025 All State Game will be instrumental in preparing athletes for the highest levels of competition.
By providing insight into elite defensive strategies, game preparation, and leadership development, Sica will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of football stars. His vast experience as both a player and coach uniquely qualifies him to mentor, challenge, and elevate athletes at the All State Game.
The 2025 All State Game is about more than just competition; it’s an elite stage for young athletes to develop, compete, and connect. With Coach Robert J. Sica leading the way, athletes will receive top-tier coaching from someone who has lived the game at every level. His impact will not only be felt in defensive schemes and game strategies but also in the leadership and personal development of each player he mentors.
Sica’s vision extends beyond victories—he aims to cultivate an environment where athletes push their limits, build character, and forge lifelong friendships. He understands that football is not just about winning titles, but about teaching life lessons that players will carry long after they leave the field.
The 2025 All State Game is an opportunity for young athletes to showcase their talent, receive elite coaching, and prepare for their future in football. With Coach Robert J. Sica on the sidelines, this year’s event is set to be one of the most impactful yet.
