With 26 years of coaching experience, including 22 seasons as the offensive coordinator at Saint Xavier University, Coach Mark Yanule is a force to be reckoned with in the world of football. Known for leading one of the most dynamic offenses in NAIA football, Yanule’s impact on the game is undeniable. His expertise in building high-powered offensive units has helped the Cougars break nearly every school record over the last few years, making him an exciting addition to the 2025 All State Game coaching staff.
Throughout his career, Yanule’s offensive systems have set new benchmarks for excellence. In 2012, his offense ranked No. 3 nationally in total pass offense, racking up an impressive 3,866 yards. The Cougars also ranked fifth in the NAIA in both pass offense per game and total scoring that season. His success has earned him the prestigious Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League Assistant Coach of the Year award five times, a testament to his sustained excellence in coaching. Yanule is the only five-time winner of this award, securing it in 2003, 2009, 2012, and 2019.
Yanule’s offensive philosophy is built around high-scoring, fast-paced play. In 2011, the Cougars led the entire NAIA in total pass offense (4,902 yards) and total scoring offense (666 points), with a stunning average of 44.4 points per game. Under his leadership, Saint Xavier has consistently produced elite talent, with players earning AFCA-NAIA All-American honors every season since 2014, along with back-to-back MSFA Midwest League Offensive Player of the Year titles in 2018 and 2019.
Before joining Saint Xavier, Yanule served as the offensive line coach at the University of St. Francis, where he also played and earned NAIA All-District 20 Second Team honors as a two-year starter on the offensive line. His extensive playing and coaching experience gives him a unique perspective in developing talent and guiding teams to success.
At the 2025 All State Game, Yanule’s offensive expertise will provide young athletes with the tools they need to thrive in competitive environments. His proven ability to maximize offensive production and build winning teams will be invaluable as he works with some of the best middle school football players in the state.
Beyond his accomplishments on the field, Yanule is a dedicated family man. He lives in Shorewood, Illinois, with his wife, Lisa, their two daughters, Alexis and Alyssa, and their dog, Ruby.
As Coach Mark Yanule steps into his role at the 2025 All State Game, his unparalleled offensive strategy and deep understanding of the game will guide the next generation of football talent. His legacy of excellence and commitment to building high-scoring, record-breaking offenses ensures that the athletes under his guidance will have a transformative experience.
