A Journey of Excellence in Football Coaching
Christopher Clark’s coaching journey is a testament to his dedication to the sport and his commitment to continuous growth. His impressive resume includes being selected for the 2021 NFL Quarterback Coaching Summit and the prestigious Ozzie Newsome General Manager Forum, opportunities reserved for top emerging coaches and football minds.
In 2020, Clark participated in the Bill Walsh Diversity Fellowship Internship with the Carolina Panthers, where he worked closely with coaches and players, assisting with linebackers and special teams. During his time with the Panthers, he gained invaluable insights into roster management, salary cap strategies, and the complexities of running a professional football team—knowledge that he continues to apply in his coaching career.
Success on the Collegiate Level
Before his NFL experience, Clark made a significant impact at the collegiate level. In 2019, he served as a Graduate Assistant for Southern University’s Defensive Line, where he played a pivotal role in leading the team to become the 2019 SWAC Western Division Champions. Under his guidance, Southern University improved its rushing defense from 3rd in 2018 to 1st in 2019, showcasing his ability to develop dominant defensive units.
Clark’s coaching also helped produce standout athletes, including 2nd Team All-Conference Defensive Linemen Joe Davis and Jordan Lewis, with Lewis later earning the 2021 Buck Buchanan Award as the top defensive player in FCS football. Additionally, Clark contributed to Southern’s recruitment efforts, helping secure the #1 recruiting class in HBCU football during his tenure.
In 2018, Clark continued his success at Southern, assisting the team in winning the SWAC Western Division Championship for the first time since 2014. His strategic insights and leadership were key factors in the team’s resurgence.
Foundations of Leadership and Education
Clark began his coaching career in 2017 at his alma mater, Southeastern Louisiana University, where he served as an Assistant Defensive Line Coach. It was here that he laid the foundation for his coaching philosophy, emphasizing discipline, hard work, and attention to detail.
Academically, Clark holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Management from Southeastern Louisiana University. Furthering his education, he earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Southern University in December 2021, equipping him with additional leadership and management skills that enhance his coaching effectiveness.
