A proud native of Danville, VA, Coach Morris’s journey in football began during his college years at Ferrum College, where he earned his degree in Social Work. While attending college, his love for football and community led him to volunteer as the Defensive Coordinator for a middle school program in Danville. This early experience ignited his passion for coaching, shaping his philosophy of mentorship, discipline, and personal growth.
Reflecting on his coaching journey, Morris states, “A life without correction is a life without growth.” This powerful belief has guided his approach to coaching, emphasizing the importance of learning from challenges and striving for continuous improvement.
Achieving Milestones in Coaching
After years of dedication as a paid assistant coach, Morris was blessed with the opportunity to become a head coach, where he led his team to a district championship in 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic. His ability to inspire and develop young athletes was evident in this achievement, marking a significant milestone in his coaching career.
During the pandemic, Morris continued his coaching journey at the high school level, serving as the Tight Ends Coachfor George Washington (GW) High School in Danville. His impact on the program was immediate, fostering resilience and adaptability in both players and coaches during challenging times.
Currently, Morris serves as the JV Head Coach and Defensive Line Coach at GW Danville, where he continues to shape the next generation of football talent. His leadership extends beyond the field as he proudly holds the position of Athletic Director at Westwood Middle School in Danville, a role that allows him to influence and support young athletes at multiple stages of their development.

Morris attributes his success and growth to his faith, stating, “I thank God for His loving grace and mercy towards me.
